Day 1-Christchurch and BEYOND

My roomate Katelyn and I arrived in christchurch on Friday and stayed at a Base bachpackers hostel that night.  We woke up early in the morning to start our day and meet our groups. I met Jenny and Leah in Cathedral Square and we began our journey to find our van.

Anticipation rising, we walked out on the street from the Wicked Camper headquarters to meet our van.  Thats when we met Captain Caveman.  We were pretty excited and believed that we definitely got the best van there was.  For one, it was not stick like we believed it was gonna be (yeah for not driving stick with my left hand!) and two it wasnt scary like the arnold van with the glowing red eyes right next to our cheerful caveman.

It took us some time to figure out our bearings and plan where we wanted to go, but we decided to head north.  On the way out, we hit the Antarctic Adventure center where they had penguins!  Along with cute adorable little blue penguins they also had a room where you put on parkas and they simulated and antartic storm.  It was kinda scary, but there was an igloo to hide in so we were ok.

After that we headed north along the coast.  The rest is history.
